UN TAPIS DE FLEUR

PARIS, JULY 2026

At the heart of the editorial is a childhood memory: the Grand-Place in Brussels covered in flowers, creating an immense, ephemeral carpet across the square.

From this image grew a series of connections- between our rugs and flowers, between rhizomes and threads, and between the earth beneath us, to the carpets that inhabit our interiors. Both flowers and rugs share an innate language of pattern, color and texture; both are composed of countless elements that come together to form a whole.

Les Éditions invited floral designer Clémence Bouteille to explore this dialogue through his contemporary approach to floral arrangements, captured through the lens of Louis De Winter. Running quietly through the editorial is a reference to the language of haute couture: embroidery, beads and ornaments, patiently assembled by hand in the ateliers. Here, flowers become a form of embroidery themselves - a living, delicate and fleeting material laid upon the enduring surface of the carpet.

The result is an ephemeral landscape in which the boundaries between flower and carpet, ornament and surface, nature and craft begin to blur. Flowers appear to grow from the carpet, while the carpet seems to emerge from the earth - a moment where the organic and the made, the fleeting and the enduring, meet.
